(TeaParty.org) – Waking up from the ideological sleep that is liberalism can be painful, but for some people, it takes something far more painful to rouse them.
For a self-described “embarrassed liberal” mother who is now pledging her support for Trump, it was after suffering an unimaginable loss that she realized how vital the President’s agenda is.
During a St. Louis area rally over the weekend in support of border security, Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft introduced a woman named Terry, a gardener who had lost her son in a drug overdose.
“I want to start by saying I did not vote for Trump,” she began.
“Will I vote for Trump the next time? Yes,” she continued, to cheers from the audience.
“I am an embarrassed liberal, and what started me … was the opioid crisis, because my reflection on my son Jason. Donald Trump did what Barack Obama didn’t do, what Clinton didn’t do, what Bush didn’t do: He declared an opioid crisis.
“The headlines read, ‘Trump declares opioid crisis, allocates no funds.’ That’s not his job. He did his job. Throw it to Congress. They figure it all out. But I thought, ‘What are they talking about? This man just did a great thing.’
“You have your drugs coming in from the borders along with your illegal immigrants,” she continued.
“I am very much in favor of a diversified country. One of my best friends is Bosnian. We are lucky to have him. He’s a proud American.”
This friend, she was sure to mention, “did it the right way.”
She then explained a conversation she had with a veteran who said “we need that wall. Other countries protect their borders.”
Hold then noted that Terry had lost a son, and sadly, had another son “struggling with the same issue.”
When Terry spoke again, she explained that “this is not a pity party, because I speak for many, many, many people.” She also added that her husband had been a veteran who tragically took his own life after suffering from post-traumatic stress in Vietnam, and also explained that Veteran’s issues were a big concern of hers.
These are the stories the Democrats don’t want you to hear. These are the real-life people whose lives are impacted by an open border and unvetted immigration process.
These are the people who deserve a government who works for their interest and not for the interests of staying in power.
