(Bizpac Review) – President Obama‘s farewell address to the Armed Forces had an unintended effect on one member of the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

The guard fainted during the president’s speech in Arlington, Virginia on Wednesday. A photo captured by the AFP news agency showed him lying on the floor next to his fellow servicemen’s feet.

The guard is part of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, known as “The Old Guard,” the Washington Examiner reported.

He “received immediate medical attention and is doing just fine now,” Military spokeswoman Col. Amanda Azubuike said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.

Obama was addressing the armed services at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in his final salute before leaving office.

The president was honored for serving as commander-in-chief by being awarded the Medal of Distinguished Public Service at the ceremony.

“I believe that one of the greatest tasks before our armed forces is to retain the high confidence that the American people rightly place in you,” Obama said.

“We must never hesitate to act when necessary to defend our nation, but we must also never rush into war because sending you into harm’s way should be a last and not first resort,” he said in his speech.

Twitter users had some interesting reactions to the photo of the passed-out guard.
