(TeaParty.org) – Illinois is home to Chicago, a city whose crime statistics make up a large part of the argument as to how deadly gun control is.
In a city that has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, a whopping 370 people have already been shot in 2018. This is, of course, because criminals ignore gun laws.
The State of Illinois doesn’t seem to care that the vast majority of their gun violence happens at the hands of prohibited possessors, that a majority of victims are criminals themselves, or that straw purchases and other firearm offenses are very weakly enforced by liberal judges and prosecutors.
No, the State of Illinois thinks that, instead of actually prosecuting their own criminal residents for violent crime, illegal firearm purchases, and gang violence, the answer is to punish law-abiding citizens.
That’s just working so well for Chicago, right?
Breitbart explains the dramatic bill that passed the State House and is moving on to the Senate:
A bill requiring 18-20 year olds to hand over or transfer ownership of heretofore legally possessed “assault weapons” is gaining sponsors in the Illinois Senate after passing the House last month. The bill, HB 1465, was sponsored in the House by Rep. Michelle Mussman (D-Schaumburg) and passed by a vote of 64-51 on February 28.
After being introduced in the upper house by Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago), the bill has added seven co-sponsors in the last week. Notable among them was Sen. Jim Oberweis (R-Sugar Grove), the NRA “A” rated 2014 Republican nominee for U.S. Senate.
The NRA-ILA described the weapons covered by HB 1465 as “commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms.” The bill also requires 18-20-year-olds to forfeit ownership of any magazines that hold more than ten rounds of ammunition.
Following a highly-publicized shooting like Parkland, it is crucial to keep an eye out for tratious rinos like Oberweis. Politicians tend to show their weak spines when the nation is in hysterics, and even Trump has been making some highly-questionable suggestions regarding gun control, although thankfully he’s backed away from the age restriction over the last few days.
If this bill passes in the Illinois State Senate, 18-20-year-olds would have 90 days to turn in their weapons or be considered prohibited possessors.
This is absolute tyranny! No law-abiding citizen should ever be facing the possibility of the government seizing their weapon and facing criminal charges simply for having it, especially standard semi-auto rifles.
The only people who will benefit from this bill are criminals. Do you think the 18-20-year-old gang members in Chicago give a damn about one more restriction on firearms they can ignore?
The real criminals in Illinois are already prohibited possessors, and the liberal bureaucrats who keep this cycle of crime and violence running smoothly clearly care nothing about the safety, security, or natural rights of law-abiding residents of Illinois.
This law absolutely must not pass the Senate or we truly will see tyranny on US soil!
