(Angry Patriot) – In times of difficulty, even ones involving life or death, there are those who can still find strength when the odds seem too great. Take this elderly woman for instance.
Marike Veldman is a 78-year-old Christian woman, and she lives in Israel where tensions have been high for years between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Veldman was the victim of an attack by Muslim assailants, and as she was being attacked by a man with a knife, she uttered the name Jesus, and he moved away from her.
Veldman has been running a Jerusalem foster home for the last 32 years, specifically for Arab children. Over this time, she raised 20 children and adopted several of them.
Before she came to Israel, Veldman lived in her native Netherlands until she got a calling to go to the Holy Land. And it was last week that she was on a bus when two dodgy men on board captured her attention.
It didn’t take long for her initial fears to be realized as one took out a gun while the other took out a knife. They started shouting “Allahu Akbar” before attacking their fellow passengers on the bus.
Veldman said, via YNet News, “The man in front of me began with a knife stabbing into me. The other man started shooting. People screamed very loudly. It was awful.”
While she was being stabbed, Veldman started to call out for Jesus Christ in Dutch, asking for help. All of a sudden the attacker ceased and fled to the rear while Veldman managed to escape out the door.
While bleeding heavily from her stab wounds, she managed to get away from the bus and to safety. Some minutes elapsed before a Jewish male driving by stopped. After she informed him of what had transpired on the bus, he drove her to a nearby medical center.
At the medical center, Veldman received the proper attention and had her wounds treated. She is still there today recovering from a set of punctured lungs and the multiple stab wounds.
While she says she does not possess hatred for her attacker, she has pity on him for inflicting such evil upon others. She also wishes to meet with the man who gave her the ride to say thank you.
Veldman has given credit to both God and this driver for helping to save her life. Unfortunately, two people were killed in the attack as well as a further 16 being injured.
