Just Happened: Fox News Co-Host Leaving Show, Moving To Super Liberal ‘The View’

(Conservative Tribune) – A familiar face at Fox News will be jumping ship in favor of a much more liberal destination.

On Thursday, The Hill reported that this coming Saturday and Sunday will be Abby Huntsman’s last two days as co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend.” The 32-year-old commentator will be headed over to ABC, where she will join the all-female, left-leaning panel show “The View.”

Her move is part of a larger personnel shift. Huntsman is set to replace Sara Haines, who already left “The View” to join the cast of “Good Morning America.”

The departing Fox host is the daughter of former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., a Republican who is now the U.S. ambassador to Russia. While the Fox contributor clearly comes from a conservative background, she has distanced herself from the current administration in recent comments.

“The younger Huntsman has been critical of President Trump, particularly over his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin,” explained The Hill.

“No negotiation is worth throwing your own people and country under the bus,” Huntsman tweeted in an apparent slam against Trump’s words during that meeting, which came across to many as lenient on Putin.

Despite having been on the air for 21 seasons, “The View” continues to do fairly well in the ratings. According to Fox News, it receives an average of 2.9 million viewers, and the 2017-2018 season was the most watched since venerable journalist Barbara Walters left several years ago.

“The reliably liberal ‘View’ regained its place in the pop culture conversation with a panel including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Meghan McCain,” Fox continued.

Well-known and sometimes controversial guests often join the panel, with the predictable fireworks.

“Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Stormy Daniels, James Comey, Sarah Sanders and Anthony Scaramucci were among the political guests to join the show this season, along with the parade of actors and musicians,” explained Fox.

“McCain, the show’s lone conservative, and the fiery Behar have battled about all things politics on a regular basis, creating must-see TV in the process,” the outlet said.

Meghan McCain is, of course, the daughter of well-known Republican Senator John McCain, which means that Huntsman will be the second woman on the panel to come from a powerful GOP-connected family.

However, neither McCain nor Huntsman are particularly strong-right conservatives, and both have been critical of the president. In other words, it seems that “The View” wants some political fireworks, but isn’t ready to place ardent supporters of Donald Trump on the panel just yet.

Given Huntsman’s “conservative lite” background and critical stance against Trump, it isn’t all that surprising that she is making the move to a decidedly more liberal show.

It would be much more stunning if an outspoken conservative like Jeanine Pirro — who got into a spat with the far-left “View” panelist Whoopi Goldberg last month — had made a similar announcement. That would make for a truly dynamic and opinionated show, but Huntsman is a much safer choice.

“The View” is currently on hiatus but will return to the airwaves with Huntsman as the new face on September 4th.
