Joe Biden: I’m Most ‘In Step’ With Left’s Woke ‘Lingo’

(Breitbart) – Former Vice President Joe Biden claimed this week with a straight face that he is “more in step” with the left’s woke “lingo” than any other Democrat running for president.

Biden has praised the civility of segregationists and left himself wide open to being cold-cocked by Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) on busing and race issues during the presidential debate because he stubbornly refused to apologize or walk back his remarks before the debates. It took Biden two weeks to finally apologize last weekend in South Carolina.

CNN’s Chris Cuomo told Biden that he has to find a way to bring Democrats together and observed that “it seems the fundamental tension now” is whether Biden is “the right fit for this party at this time.”

The CNN anchor, whose brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, is a Biden ally, told Biden: “They’re coming at you not on policy but the way you discuss policy, the phrases you use–that you are not in step with their lingo, let alone where they want to go.”

Biden responded: “Well, let me tell you. I think I’m more in step with the lingo than any of them.”

The former vice president then spoke about how he was “asked to go into 24 states, campaign for 69 candidates” during the 2018 midterm elections while the “rest of them weren’t asked to go in those places.”

“You remember, I got criticized, I said we’re going to win back the House of Representatives. We went in and beat Republicans, head-on. We took them on, on issues of health care,” Biden continued. “We went to their neighborhoods and made the case against them. You know, half of it, as my dad would say, showing up, making the case.”

Biden’s reflexive and Trump-like response about being the most “in step” with the left’s woke “lingo” is reminiscent of when he insisted that he was the most “progressive” Democrat in the race.

Flashback: Joe Biden Describes Ocasio-Cortez As A ‘Brilliant, Bright Woman’

Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) praised far-left freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) during a CNN interview that aired Friday, describing her as a “brilliant, bright woman.”

While he hit a range of subjects during the exhaustive interview, he praised the Democrat socialist lawmaker, despite marketing himself as a moderate Democrat.

“That’s what this election is about. I’m happy to debate that issue and all those issues with my friends because guess what, look who won the races. Look who won last time out,” Biden said, referring to the extreme left’s victories in the midterm election.

Ocasio-Cortez beat incumbent former Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY) by a little more than 4,000 votes – 15,897 to Crowley’s 11,761.

However, Biden still maintained that a moderate Democrat will stand a better chance of beating President Trump in the general election.

“By the way, I think Ocasio-Cortez is a brilliant, bright woman, but she won a primary,” Biden continued. “In the general election fights, who won? Mainstream Democrats who are very progressive on social issues and very strong on education and healthcare”:

Despite Biden’s vast attempts to present himself as a moderate, he still holds what many would consider “extreme” positions. He supports government gun confiscation and explained his position during the first debate: “Folks, look, and I would buy back [assault] weapons. We already started talking about that. We tried to get it done. I think it can be done. And it should be demanded that we do it. And that’s a good expenditure of money.”

He also flip-flopped on the Hyde Amendment and now supports the use of federal dollars for abortion procedures.

“Folks, times have changed. I don’t think these guys are going to let up,” he said at the IWillVote Gala last month.

Notably, Ocasio-Cortez dismissed Biden’s climate change proposal, instead calling Washington Gov. Jay Inslee’s (D) proposal the “Gold Standard.”

“Scientifically, anything that is less than helping us cut carbon emissions in half by 2030 is going to be too late,” she said, according to the Hill.

Biden’s plan aims to eliminate fossil fuel usage by 2050.
