Former Top HHS Official Claims CDC Lied To President Trump Over Readiness Of Coronavirus Testing

(Gateway Pundit) – Former Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Preparedness and Response accused the Center for Disease Control with lying to President Trump over the effectiveness of the coronavirus testing kits.

Chris Meeks told ABC3340 that in recent discussions with top federal officials and physicians he was told the CDC lied to HHS Secrtary Alexander Azar and in turn President Trump about their preparedness to carry out the mass testing for the coronavirus.

ABC 3340 reported:

As the coronavirus spread to all fifty states over the last two months, the Trump administration faced mounting criticism for the lack of reliable, widely accessible test kits. Now, a former senior federal health official nominated to his post by President Trump, alleges that the delays in testing occurred because leaders at the Centers for Disease Control “lied” to the president, and to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, about the center’s ability to produce the kits.

In making the allegation, Chris Meekins, a former assistant secretary of Health and Human Services for preparedness and response, cited private discussions he has held in recent weeks with top federal officials and physicians and scientists employed in private-sector industries that are active in the anti-coronavirus effort. Meekins described his contacts on the White House Coronavirus Task Force as “friends,” some of whom he has known for many years.

“From my conversations with members of the task force, both inside and outside the administration,” Meekins told Sinclair in an exclusive interview, “The U.S. government, from Secretary Azar to the president relied on the Centers for Disease Control to produce a test; they failed….CDC said they would handle it….What we have found out is that these leaders at the CDC lied to both the HHS secretary and, by extension, the president. And as a result the nation got weeks behind.”

CDC has acknowledged that its initial stab at mass production of the test kits encountered “a problem,” and that federal deployment of safe testing equipment lagged as a result.

  1. Well what else would you excpect from a bunch of dumpacrapanywhere people they should be brought up on charges of lying to the president and the American people and once found guilty they’re to be taken to the gibbet no appeals allowed and then start on the democrat house same for them and there is no family visitation for these anus holes because their trial should be a tribunal trial

  2. Anti-Trump advocates are too blinded by hate that any rational decision to stop the coronavirus is immediately rejected. This is a time when we should all come together and ignore all the hateful narrow-minded ignorant people with only one purpose in mind and that is to cause dissention. When 9/11 occured, we all moved forward as one. It is time to do that again.

  3. This national crisis may show the American people why more services may be best served through private entities as opposed to Government Agencies.

    • Agree. The prior 24 years before Trump have made the CDC an international lobbyist, not an agency for the good of American citizens. But – that too can be fixed; hopefully it will be.

  4. With no evidence at all, I’d rather believe the Trump-diminished CDC is probably in the right as it fights Covid-19. Trump by all evidence has delayed recognition for the coronavirus, invoked war production powers without using them to produce needed personal protection equipment like masks and ventilators. He’s even set a ridiculous deadline of 15 days when the emergency ‘will end’. There are no words to describe the president who ignores and has always ignored medical, scientific, military, diplomatic and economic suggestions based on established routines, formulas and procedures in his government. He has cut funds and personnel to CDC, EPA, Kurds defense, embassy officials in critical European areas, and Federal Reserve board. The guy is ignorant on so many levels and refuses to learn the basics. Very sad, but correctable in November.

    • Oh, but there ARE words to describe this president. Says NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo of the president: “He is fully engaged on trying to help… He’s being very creative, and very energetic and I thank him for his partnership.” Cuomo, a prominent Democratic leader, added that Trump was doing a “really good job.”

Then there are the words of another Democratic leader, Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, who recently described the phone call in which he’d had the “privilege” of speaking with the president. Newsome was astonished to find him “aware of where… swabs are being procured before I even offered my own insight….Not only is he on top of it, but they’re securing and beginning the process of distributing those swabs!” the governor marveled.

Even Rep. Ihlan Omar has words to describe this president and his approach to the virus: “Politics aside, this is incredible and the right response in this critical time.”

It takes a certain kind of dirtbag to politicize the COVID-19 emergency. Cuomo, Newsom, and even Omar are willing temporarily to shelve their partisan rancor in order to close ranks with the president in dealing with this national emergency. But not YOU. Oh, no!

This president has done an exemplary job of dealing with the emergent challenges of COVID-19, such as immediately banning travel to the United States from China, holding transparent, daily briefings, invoking special powers in an aggressive effort to slow the virus, mitigating the economic hardships associated with the virus and the public’s panic, etc. He did not cut CDC funding. In fact, CDC funding has increased during his presidency.

Your other claims are equally fatuous. Clearly, you suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

You say that the president is “ignorant on so many levels…” I say: “Physician, heal thyself!”

    • You are so right – we need to trust the Deep State implicitly [especially the FBI, FISA Courts, DoJ Attorneys, etc.].
