As End Nears, McCain Now Openly Supporting Other Nations Instead Of US Elected Leaders

(Conservative Tribune) – There has been something of an ongoing feud between President Donald Trump and Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain for several years, and it doesn’t appear to be letting up one bit even as McCain’s terminal brain tumor progresses.

Trump just concluded his attendance at the G-7 summit of top economic and industrial nations in Canada, where he placed the rest of the nations on notice that the prior status quo of unfair trade deals stacked against American interests was over and done with.

Trump’s putting into action his America First agenda in terms of trade has caused much consternation among members of the political establishment on both sides of the aisle, as they have largely benefited from globalization while the average American has suffered.

Enter McCain, who in the aftermath of the G-7 summit took to Twitter to essentially take a stand with other nations against Trump and Americans who support him.

McCain tweeted, “To our allies: bipartisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization & supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values. Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn’t.”

What McCain failed to acknowledge — either because he didn’t know or simply chose to ignore it — is that, as Business Insider and other outlets reported, Trump opened up the G-7 summit with a call for actual free trade, a complete reduction of trade barriers and tariffs by all G-7 member nations, which was summarily dismissed by those other members.

Furthermore, Trump ran for the presidency against the idea of globalization and on a platform of placing American interests first ahead of those of other nations. That is the message that won in 2016, not the pro-globalization status quo message carried by failed Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton, whom McCain all-but-openly supported.

Finally, the vast majority of Americans are incredibly supportive of the post-World War II alliance America has enjoyed with the major Western European nations… so long as those allies are not taking advantage of the United States.

Unfortunately, though, they have taken full advantage of America and American workers and taxpayers, both in terms of lop-sided trade deals that favor Europe at the expense of America, and in military terms, as they contribute little to the mutual defense of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which for all intents and purposes is carried by the U.S. military and taxpayer.

Trump went into the G-7 summit with a simple message for our Canadian and European allies — we will no longer sit idly by while you take advantage of us and exploit our generosity, both with trade and the military.

The president has demanded more equitable trade deals and demanded that European nations stand up and help defend themselves militarily instead of relying on America’s might to guard over them at all times.

That may have ruffled some feathers among Europeans and their globalist allies in America, but it elicited a loud cheer from Americans who are tired of the rest of the world taking the country for granted while exploiting our wealth and good will.

As an aside, Trump hasn’t forsaken these long-standing U.S. allies as some in the media would have everybody believe, but rather has taken on the role of a stern parent of sorts, reminding them of the weight they are supposed to pull as well as the fact that our nation’s generosity can’t be unlimited.

McCain, like so many others of the reflexive anti-Trump and NeverTrump movements, has made it clear that he will stand with whoever is viewed as in opposition to the president, so strong is his dislike for the man.
