CNN’s Rye To Evangelicals: ‘Nothing About Christ’s Words’ Align With Trump

(Breitbart) – Wednesday on CNN’s “At This Hour,” CNN political commentator Angela Rye criticized evangelicals who support President Donald Trump.

Rye was discussing acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Ken Cuccinelli changing the words of the poem “The New Colossus” by Emma Lazarus at the base of the Statue of Liberty to, “Give me your tired and your poor who can stand on their own two feet and who will not become a public charge,” during an interview with NPR.

Rye said, “Emma Lazarus, so of course that brings me to the Bible. I think about, you know, the God that I serve. You know we see all of this evangelical support for Donald Trump and I wonder what Bible are they reading? There are some Bibles that have Jesus’ words in red print. There’s nothing about Christ’s words that are in alignment with the policy of limitation we see from this administration.”

Flashback: Posters Labeling Christians, Trump Supporters As “Trash” Pop Up Around NYC

A series of posters that unlawfully sport the insignia of the NYC Department of Sanitation have popped up across trash cans and buildings throughout Manhattan’s Lower East Side, comparing Christians and Trump supporters to “trash.”

In one poster, a is a woman holding a Bible and wearing a MAGA hat, in another, a man wearing a MAGA hat holds a Chick-fil-A drink and sports a Confederate flag tattoo.

The slogan of this “art”? “Keep NYC trash free.” These Christians and Trump supporters are the “trash” in question, pictures with a large red ban symbol over them.

In a statement to Pix 11, the NYC Department of Sanitation said: “These posters were not created or issued by the Department of Sanitation, and we do not condone unlawful defacement of City litter baskets or public property. We are looking into this matter.”

The designs are reported to be the work of University of Californa at Berkely graduate, Winston Tseng.

He is, according to IDNWorld, “the former art director of one of the most recognizable skate companies, Enjoi Skateboards.”

Tseng is also the designer of a deck of anti-Trump playing hards, which describe POTUS as “klansman” and “oppressor.”

In a recent interview, Tseng says he wasn’t a very political person until 2016, when he apparently turned to bigoted street art to vent his frustrations at Christians and conservatives.

“I think he’s reflecting a lot of hate and ideologies that exist in the population. That’s what I’m trying to get out with this series. Put the focus a little bit less on him being the creator of all of this but rather on his supporters who share the same beliefs and those beliefs that get reflected through him,” he said of Trump in an interview with Brooklyn Street Art.

Right…but calling people you disagree with “trash” isn’t a hateful ideology at all.

While Tseng has denied putting up the posters to one news outlet, another interview fingers him as the artist.

Since he’s been hit with a cease and desist order for his street art in the past, however, it makes sense he’d deny association with these new posters.

In American, where identity politics reigns supreme in this day and age, it would be abhorrent to call any other group “trash” to these people.

But white Christian conservatives? Have at it.

Nevermind that Christians are one of the most persecuted groups globally and have been since the days of Christ.

All the more reason to make your voice heard as a Christian.
