Stands by assertion that Planned Parenthood has most clinics in black and Hispanic neighborhoods
(Infowars) – GOP Presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson, who is currently polling in second place behind Donald Trump, laid out his opinions on abortion and Planned Parenthood Sunday, again claiming that the organisation specifically targets black communities.
Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, also ripped into Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, noting that she was “a great believer in eugenics, and believed that certain people were like weeds that needed to be controlled.”
“Margaret Sanger believed that certain people, including blacks, were inferior and that the way you strengthen society is you get rid of them.” Carson added.
Sanger’s name has been back in the spotlight following the revelations that Planned Parenthood is involved in selling aborted body parts to bio-medical companies, sometimes without the consent of patients having abortions, according to whistleblowers.
Recently, a group of black pastors called for the Smithsonian Institution to remove a bust of Sanger that is on display as part of a s “champions of justice” exhibition on the civil rights movement.
“Perhaps the Gallery is unaware that Ms. Sanger supported black eugenics, a racist attitude toward black and other minority babies, an elitist attitude toward those she regarded as ‘the feeble minded;’ speaking at a rally of Ku Klux Klan women; and communications with Hitler sympathizers,” the pastors wrote in a letter.
“Also the notorious ‘Negro Project,’ which sought to limit, if not eliminate black births, was her brainchild,” the letter states. “Despite these well- documented facts of history, her bust sits proudly in your gallery as a hero of justice.”
The Smithsonian responded with a statement saying that the bust is in keeping with the museum’s goal to “see the past clearly and objectively” and that while some of Sanger’s beliefs “are now controversial,” her inclusion in the museum’s collection represents the “full spectrum of the American experience.”
Last week, Dr. Carson accused Planned Parenthood of specifically setting up centres in black communities.
“One of the reasons you find most of their clinics in black neighborhoods is so that you can find ways to control that population,” Carson said.
“And I think people should go back and read about Margaret Sanger who founded this place — a woman who, by the way, Hillary Clinton says she admires,” Carson added, “Look up and see what many people in Nazi Germany thought about her — a great person.”
ABC News host Martha Raddatz claimed that fewer than five percent of Planned Parenthood clinics are within minority dominant areas. However, a study by the Life Issues Institute has found that almost 4 out of 5 Planned Parenthood centres are within walking distance of minority communities.
