(Angry Patriot) – President Trump made a major announcement as he continues to fill vacant government positions.
President Trump is planning to appoint Newt Gingrich’s wife, Callista, as the ambassador to the Vatican by the end of the month. Congratulations! (via CNN).
President Trump is scheduled to meet with Pope Francis on May 24th, and it is expected that Callista Gingrich will be appointed before the meeting takes place.
Callista is a lifelong Catholic, and is a longtime member of the Washington-based Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
As a devout Catholic with experience in government and the private sector, Callista is an ideal pick to liaison with the Holy See.
Callista was instrumental in her husband’s conversion to Catholicism in 2009. Newt can now be spotted attending Mass with his wife every Sunday at noon at the family church. (via Time)
Callista began her career in government in the mid-1990s working for Steve Gunderson, a former Republican Congressman. She also worked as a top clerk in the Department of Agriculture.
After serving as a public employee, Callista moved on to co-found a multimedia enterprise, which focuses on political and historical documentary films and books.
Newt Gingrich is the former Speaker of the House and was a staunch supporter of President Trump in the lead-up to the 2016 election. He was denied a Cabinet position earlier this year as he eyes a senior planning role to advise the president.
Newt hinted that his wife was being considered for the appointment as early as February this year, telling reporters that he is “very excited for her,” while refusing to go into detail at that time.
Callista Gingrich has already been approved by the Office of Government Ethics, who cleared her financial disclosures weeks ago.
Callista will serve with dignity and will help strengthen the relationship between Catholics around the world and the United States.
