ALERT: Top Charity Found Scamming Hundred of Harvey Victims Out of Food – Do Not Donate

(Christian News Alerts) – Whenever there is a natural or man-made disaster, the best and worst sides of humanity always come out. One well-known relief agency is now being accused of scamming people suffering from Hurricane Harvey.

Last weekend, a Facebook user named Lindsey Scott wrote a lengthy Facebook post accusing the Red Cross of refusing to let a private citizen hand out food to Hurricane Harvey victims. This unverified report essentially says that the Red Cross “berated” a good citizen for trying to donate 400 hamburgers to hungry Texans.

It is important to recognize that this story has yet to be corroborated, and therefore should be taken with a grain of salt.

That said, Scott’s online diatribe accusing the Red Cross of failing to provide Scott and her husband with any advice about how to feed the now cold burgers to starving people the very next morning.

“They were not there when the sun came up and they woke up hungry, angry, tired, scared, and frustrated,” she wrote. “They did not see them fighting over donuts that OUR friends and family answered the call to bring at 7:00 am,” Scott says.

Overall, Scott’s story paints the Red Cross as inconsiderate and poorly organized.

Jenelle Eli, a spokesperson for the Red Cross, told Snopes that the hamburger SNAFU was based on a safety issue.

“The safety of the people we serve is our first and utmost priority,” Eli said. “Our volunteers and workers on the ground may not be perfect, but they are all working with the best of intentions and to the best of their ability.”

Scott fired back by telling Snopes that safety issues never came up. “The Red Cross’s position was that (evacuees) had already eaten a sandwich … (they) didn’t (appear) to be concerned about safety (because) they (placed the hamburgers) into an ice chest to save for later,” Scott said. “There were problems the entire time they were there with them not wanting volunteers to distribute things.”

Whatever the true story is, it remains a fact that several organizations regularly scam both victims and those who donate money towards relief. One of the more recent scandals involving such scams centers around the Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour, one of the key figures of the Woman’s March and someone who has spoken positively about jihad.

Sarsour used Twitter to ask for Hurricane Harvey relief donations. The hyperlink that she attached sent people to a political action organization that routinely stumps for far-Left causes.

Not to be outdone, other radical groups used Hurricane Harvey as an excuse to shill for donations for their pet causes.

The feminist Lilith Fund sought Hurricane Harvey donations so that the group could pay for the abortions of those Harvey victims who could not afford them.

It is disgusting when charity is manipulated in order to turn a profit. It is even more disgusting when disingenuous charity organizations prey on the kind hearts of American citizens in order to receive money for their nakedly political organizations. Always take a jaundiced view of relief agencies unless they can be certified as honest.
